A supplication of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (a), recited during the month of Rajab — including after the daily obligatory prayers. It is a plea for all good in this world and the next.
Yā man arjūhu li-kulli khayr
O He from whom I hope for every good,
wa āmanu sakhaṭahu ʿinda kulli sharr
and from whose wrath I feel secure at (the time of) every evil,
yā man yuʿṭi al-kathīra bi-al-qalīl
O He who gives much in return for little,
yā man yuʿṭi man saʾalah
O He who gives to whoever asks Him,
yā man yuʿṭi man lam yasʾalhu wa man lam yaʿrifhu taḥannunan minhu wa raḥmah
O He who gives even to the one who does not ask Him and the one who does not know Him, out of His tenderness and mercy —
aʿṭinī bi-masʾalatī iyyāka jamīʿa khayri al-dunyā wa jamīʿa khayri al-ākhirah
grant me, for my asking of You, all the good of this world and all the good of the Hereafter,
wa-ṣrif ʿannī bi-masʾalatī iyyāka jamīʿa sharri al-dunyā wa sharri al-ākhirah
and turn away from me, for my asking of You, all the evil of this world and the evil of the Hereafter,
fa-innahu ghayru manqūṣin mā aʿṭayt
for what You give is never diminished.
wa zidnī min faḍlika yā Karīm
And increase me out of Your bounty, O Most Generous.
