Dua al-Noor (the Supplication of Light), recited for divine light, protection and blessing.
بِسْمِ اللّهِ النُّورِ
Bismillāhi al-Nūr
In the name of Allah, the Light.
بِسْمِ اللّهِ نُورِ النُّورِ
Bismillāhi nūri al-nūr
In the name of Allah, the Light of light.
بِسْمِ اللّهِ نُورٌ عَلى نُورٍ
Bismillāhi nūrun ʿalā nūr
In the name of Allah, light upon light.
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الَّذى هُوَ مُدَبِّرُ الاُمُورِ
Bismillāhi alladhī huwa mudabbiru al-umūr
In the name of Allah, who is the Disposer of all affairs.
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الَّذى خَلَقَ النُّورَ مِنَ النُّورِ
Bismillāhi alladhī khalaqa al-nūra mina al-nūr
In the name of Allah, who created light from light.
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذى خَلَقَ النُّورَ مِنَ النُّورِ وَاَنْزَلَ النُّورَ عَلىَ الطُّورِ فى كِتابٍ مَسْطُورٍ فى رَقٍّ مَنْشُورٍ بِقَدَرٍ مَقْدُورٍ عَلى نَبِيٍّ مَحْبُورٍ
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi alladhī khalaqa al-nūra mina al-nūr, wa anzala al-nūra ʿalā al-ṭūr, fī kitābin masṭūr, fī raqqin manshūr, bi-qadarin maqdūr, ʿalā nabiyyin maḥbūr
Praise be to Allah, who created light from light and sent down the light upon (Mount) Tur, in a Book inscribed, on a parchment unrolled, in a measure ordained, upon a prophet honoured.
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذى هُوَ بِالْعِزِّ مَذْكُورٌ وَبِالْفَخْرِ مَشْهُورٌ وَعَلَى السَّرّاءِ وَالضَّرّاءِ مَشْكُورٌ
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi alladhī huwa bil-ʿizzi madhkūr, wa bil-fakhri mashhūr, wa ʿalā al-sarrāʾi wal-ḍarrāʾi mashkūr
Praise be to Allah, who is remembered with might, renowned with glory, and thanked in ease and in hardship.
وَصَلَّى اللّهُ عَلى سَيِّدِنا مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ الطّاهِرينَ
wa ṣallā Allāhu ʿalā sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ālihi al-ṭāhirīn
And may Allah bless our master Muhammad and his purified family.
